Answer :  First you must see your doctor to exclude any physical cause for the pain . Once this is done , then  the most simple and effective way of stopping period pain is to suppress the ovaries and prevent an egg from maturing . This can be done by taking the Pill . An alternative is to take progestogen in the second half of the monthly cycle ,  but you doctor will be able to advise which is best for you . If your prefer , and  the pain is not too great , then you could try a pain-killer such as ibuprofen or paracetamol and that may be sufficient .
